I
was involved with the breeding of most types of small
animals from a young age. I have kept large and small
bantams, fancy pigeons and for one year flew racing
pigeons. I have always been interested in breeding
livestock to a good standard.
Asthma forced me to give up my
bantams and pigeons. Some friends in my city were
breeding budgerigars. I developed an interest in this
hobby in 2006 and contacted one importer.
I bought 150 budgerigars from him to
start up in the hobby.
I participated in CBS and NBS joint
national 2007 show with my show team of 68 birds and won
35 awards including best in show, best any age in show,
best young bird in show, best opp sex young bird in
show. It was a great success.
My interest increased and I decided
to visit Holland and UK fanciers for quality birds. I
contacted Han Schrijver from Holland who is a judge on
the WBO International Judges Panel and a champion
breeder. He helped me a lot and arranged for me some very high
quality grey green birds. Then I contacted Ghalib
Al-Nasser, a great fancier with his wife Janice, they
are also champion breeders and WBO Judges and Ghalib is
the secretary of the WBO.
I visited Ghalib and Janice and he
arranged visits to some other famous fanciers in the
U.K.; like Ken Fagan, Frank Silva, Gerald Binks, Rick
Watts and Fred Wright. It was a great experience for me
to visit these fanciers.
I saw top quality budgerigars in
their studs and bought some pairs from these great
fanciers.
I contacted lots of other famous
fanciers like Daniel Lutolf (Switzerland), Brian
Sweeting (England), Gren & Pat Norris (England),
Andreas Conrades and Wilhelm
Trimborn (Germany) all these fanciers are great people
and are always ready to help others. I got some super
birds from
them.
I spoke many times to Jo Mannes
(Germany) the top budgerigar breeder in the World. He is
a very nice person.
I constructed an air-conditioned
indoor aviary for 200 birds and have 15 breeding cages.
I use wire-breeding cages with removable trays.
In our city some friends established
a society under name of the National Birds Society of
Pakistan (NBS) and affiliated to the WBO. These fanciers
requested me to join the society as their president for
3 years and I accepted.
I participated in 3 national shows in
2007 all judged by WBO International Judges and it was a
great year for me.
In BSP national show 2007 judged by
Gerd Bleicher (Germany) who is the WBO Chairman. I won
best in show, best any age in show, best opp sex any age
in show and best young bird in show.
In CBS national show 2007 judged by
Dave Cottrell (G.B.). I won best in show, best any age
in show, best opp sex any age in show and best young
bird in show.
In NBS national show 2007 judged by
Han Schrijver (Holland) I won best in show, best any age
in show, best opp sex any age in show, best young bird
in show and best opp sex young bird in show.
All these wins have increased my
interest in this super hobby and I am looking forward to
the 2008 show season with great enthusiasm.
